Mary Knights Rossler has been a dance student from the age of three. She began dancing after watching the National Ballet of Canada perform The Nutcracker.  She leaned over to her Nana and told her that one day, she would dance on stage as the Sugar Plum Fairy.  As a teenager, Mary discovered a passion for teaching younger dancers and, instead of performing herself, found her greatest rewards in preparing dancers for their own stage moments.

She graduated from the Teacher Training Program at Canada’s National Ballet School in 2009 with Distinction where, in addition to ballet technique and pedagogy, she studied anatomy, music theory, Dowd technique and conditioning for dancers.  She has completed her Advanced 2 RAD, Advanced 1 Cecchetti, and Advanced 1 National dance exams and holds Registered Teacher’s Status with the Royal Academy of Dance, Cecchetti Canada, and the British Association of Teachers of Dance.

She has coached students through RAD exams from Primary to Solo Seal, as well as for regional and national competitions including winning the British National Dance Championship Junior Ballet Soloist two years in a row.  Choreography highlights include many special awards for unique concepts and technical brilliance on stage.

Although trained in all genres of dance, Mary has specialized in bringing ballet to life for students through imagery, detailed instruction and musicality. She is delighted to join the faculty of The Dance Space!
